Reading has many benefits. It’s a fantastic way to unwind and relax, it can educate and inspire, and it has also been proven to improve confidence and wellbeing. A recent study found that reading for 5 minutes a day can reduce stress by up to 20%.
Taking part in Winter Reads is a great way to develop your reading.
Quick Reads are made for adults who might not feel confident reading or haven’t read a book in a long time.
They are also great for people who love to read but don’t have much time. The goal of Quick Reads is to help everyone enjoy reading and make it a lifelong habit.
You can find Quick Reads on BorrowBox and in our libraries - we have a special shelf for them so they're easy to find.
Quick Reads started in 2006 and has published over 100 books since then. Every year, they work with popular authors to create six short and fun books. These books are like regular novels but shorter, making them easier to read.
You can find books by famous authors like Mark Billingham, Rowan Coleman, Sophie Hannah, Dorothy Koomson, Jojo Moyes, and Ian Rankin. There are also non-fiction books, like biographies, in the collection.
