Hertfordshire County Council

In preparation for bikers dusting off their motorbikes and heading off out on the roads over the Easter weekend and the coming months, Herts Fire and Rescue Service organised a Pit Stop Day at the Silver Ball Café in Royston.  The weather was certainly on our side as it attracted a wide audience of over fifty bikers stopping off for a welcomed breakfast break, riding a variety of Powered Two Wheelers.

To add to the excitement the local fire crews turned up and engaged in lots of conversation with bikers on topics such as rider safety, wearing the correct gear, observation skills and group riding. It was the perfect opportunity to promote the excellent BikerDown and BikeSafe workshops in Hertfordshire, as well as the additional benefits of completing an advanced rider course.

A whole week of events organised by the National Fire Chiefs Council took place nationally in April, focussing on the safety of bikers and other road users, to ensure everyone continues to enjoy safe travel.
