Dear Sian Hall, Each year the County Council receives many requests for highway improvements, however there are limited resources. To achieve the best value from our funds we have to rank initiatives that will go forward. Focus is given to those areas where existing concerns can be readily mitigated through engineering measures that provide best value for money and have a measurable level of success. In this instance your concerns over the West Road leading to Mandeville School are duly noted and your request for a crossing point at this location will be added to a list of potential schemes in the East Herts division for possible funding consideration in the future budget years. In order for any highway improvement to be considered, a pre-preparation study of possible crossing options will be undertaken and used to inform future year budget bids for implementing a crossing facility. Council officers will also discuss this site with the local county councillor, Eric Buckmaster, to see if the study can be prioritised for funding from the discretionary budget provided by the county council under the Highways Locality Budget scheme. I trust this is of assistance and again thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.Kind Regards Trevor Brennan Strategy & Programme Manager, East Herts & Broxbourne |
