Herts Parent Carer Involvement represents parent carers throughout Hertfordshire, making sure their voices are heard by decision makers and service providers across health, education, and social care. Our purpose is to inform, shape and improve services for children and young people with SEND, age 0-25.
Who is HPCI?
We are the official Hertfordshire parent carer forum (PCF), recognised by the Department for Education, Hertfordshire County Council and Herts & West Essex NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB).
We are an independent parent carer led organisation. Our whole team of over 50 people (board of directors, staff, and volunteer representatives) are all parent carers.
We have over 1270 members, with new parent carers joining us every week. Any Hertfordshire parent carer of a child or young person with SEND (aged up to 25) can become a member.
What does HPCI do?
"We listen, we share, we drive change".
We work with education, health and social care teams to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of Hertfordshire's children and young people with SEND.
We have a team of 40 representatives, who are all parent carers. They attend strategic meetings about services for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Their role is to be the voice of Hertfordshire SEND families in those meetings with decision makers and service providers.
We gather feedback from our members and the wider SEND community on what is (or isn't) working locally. We want to hear the experiences of as many parent carers as possible.
We don't campaign or represent individual families. Our role is to collect and share the feedback of all families with SEND, using it to influence the systems and services our children use. We believe 'our voices are stronger together'.
