Street cafés – put tables and chairs outside your premises

You need to apply for a licence to place tables and chairs outside your premises on the public highway / pavement. This is called a street café licence.

You can apply through your district or borough council.

You can no longer apply for a street cafe licence through us (the highways authority) due to a change in the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023.
